We will start the count by meeting up between 7-8 AM at the rec site along the Nicola Highway in Spences Bridge: https://goo.gl/maps/CEsrGx5j7dqVBAY5A
From there, we will disperse into groups to cover each zone, counting until around 11 AM. We will have a Team Lead for each zone, who will be responsible for data collection for the group.
We will then meet again to pass the survey information along to Matt McCabe and to share a tale or two. At noon, WSSBC will provide a tailgate BBQ at the rec site.
For those of you wishing to go home early, please meet with Kris Wrathall at 11 AM, who will be stationed at the Skihist Provincial Park pullout, located here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/s75NgacSheisWre18
Volunteers must dress according to the weather; typically, we can see 0-20 Celsius temperatures. Binoculars are required, with at least one spotting scope per group, to ensure proper animal identification is met. Snacks, drinks, and chairs are a great idea to bring along. This count is primarily conducted along the highway, requiring minimal hiking. It is an excellent opportunity to bring your family along.
Please print a copy of the VOLUNTEER PACKAGE, specifically the Survey Form found on page 2 of the document found below. We will have some copies available in the morning as well.
We look forward to sharing a day with you out in the splendour of the Thompson Canyon.
