2025 Wild Sheep Media Festival
The Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia is excited to share our 2025 Wild Sheep Media Festival. Are you wanting to share your creativity in our space? Whether it is photography, a written story or a film – we would love to hear from you.
Our 2025 Wild Sheep Media Festival is now open and we are accepting submissions until December 10th, 2024 at 6:00 PM Pacific.
We have four separate categories to enter:

Photographer of the Year
-
Film of the Year
-
Writer of the Year
-
Youth Photographer of the Year. (must be 16 years or younger)
WSSBC Photographer of the Year

Entrants are encouraged to focus on wild sheep, conservation, mountain landscapes and hunting photos. We are not prescribing details of what we will or will not accept, however the categories listed will increase the submitters chance of success.

Winner recognition and award (trophy/plaque) given at our event (Annual Convention or Banquet)

Winner receives a WSSBC Sitka or Stone Glacier jacket
-
Winning photo will be the calendar cover for the following year

Judging conducted by Wild Sheep Ambassadors & Wildlife Photographers Darryn Epp, Jeff Jackson Danny Coyne and Director Peter Gutsche

WSSBC has the right to use all submitted content on our social media platforms, eblasts and magazine. Photo credit will be given

Must be a WSSBC member at time of entry

Maximum of two photographs entered per member

WSSBC Film of the Year

Winner recognition and award (trophy/plaque) given at our 2024 Salute to Conservation

Winner WSSBC Sitka or Stone Glacier jacket

Winning film may be premiered at our Salute to Conservation

Judging conducted by professional Producer Jesse Bone and professional Director Tash Baycroft of Filter Studios

Maximum of two film submissions entered per member

WSSBC Writer of the Year

Winner may be invited to share their story on Talk is Sheep podcast

Judging conducted by the communications committee

Maximum of two articles entered per member

Entry must be in a completed document (.pdf, .doc or equivalent). Links to websites or online articles will not be accepted.

Entry Requirements

WSSBC has the right to use submitted content on any of our social media platforms, eblasts and magazine. Photo credit will be given

Judges may not submit an entry in the category they are judging

Must be a WSSBC member at time of entry and at the time of awarding
-
Entrant must not be a professional. By definition, professional means that the entrants primary income must not come from photography/writing/videography. This does not preclude amateurs that derive some income from those acts, it just can not be as a professional.
